If I Worked For A Venture Capital Firm

Venture Capital Opportunity on Main Street

sand-hill-roadIf I worked for a venture capital firm I would engage prospective partners by meeting their potential customers.

Focus groups are one measure for getting into people’s heads, but can be expensive and unreliable.

I want to know how a product or service is received in the real world, over a period of time longer than a few hours.

When I can see a family using a product in their own home, which they record themselves, I get a clearer picture.

Create a YouTube Channel Seeking Qualified Businesses

Most of the YouTube videos I found when searching for Venture Capital describe how VC works, or provides tips for pitching products to VC firms.

Turn the equation on its head.

Video sharing sites are a free way to spread the message you are looking for dynamic new ideas.

Show me what people say about your product (without revealing trade secrets). When I pick the partners I want to meet, it’s possible to mail several inexpensive video recorders to ‘raving fans’ of your product to learn what they believe.

Whether you’re a venture capitalist or an entrepreneur searching for customers and backers, I believe sharing a clear, specific, thought provoking message effectively with a powerful network is the first step towards success.
