Handling Critics

by Joe on January 4, 2009

The Internet is the greatest tool for expanding communication since the invention of the printing press.

2522573537_06637c78e3_bIt’s also a hotbed for criticism by anonymous critics.

I try to keep a positive attitude about negative commentary.

That doesn’t mean I’m a pushover!

I always approve comments unless they’re filled with profanity or hate speech. When someone has an issue I address them politely but directly. Once.

Getting into drawn out arguments only gives satisfaction to the critic.

Calling Out the Haters

I do check Twitter Search for references to my name and profession. If someone tries to talk a little smack I confront them directly (but tactfully).

My favorite way of diffusing rude criticism is imagining the perpetrator as a three foot tall troll.

Works every time!
