Technology That Empowers Me

by Joe on December 29, 2008

You can communicate with millions of people across the globe for less than $300.

I use very simple technology that allows me share ideas every day. This includes a video recorder, digital camera, social media websites, and blogs.

Sharing Video Online with the Flip Mino

flip-minoBefore I picked up a Mino I had been a fan of watching videos on YouTube.

Three weeks later I have my own YouTube Channel to share homemade videos.

Over 3,500 people from as far away as New Zealand have chosen to watch these movies.

You Can Use a Digital Camera to Shoot Video

Professional photographers and video producers require expensive equipment. You and I do not.

Most digital cameras have a video function that allows you to shoot movies and save them to the flash memory card in your camera.

All you need to do to create a movie for YouTube is point and shoot using your digital camera.

Pop your flash memory card into a card reader, upload to your computer, then upload once more to YouTube.

Share Your Content Online

YouTube offers a spotlight to share your movies, along with social networking sites like Facebook.

These sites are free, and they can be the spark that’s needed to deliver an audience for your hard work.

By including the link to your YouTube video on Facebook (either your profile page or a friends) you are harnessing the power of multiple social media sites as your own PR advocates.

I hope you find some fun new uses for these simple pieces of technology!
